‘More to come’ from Keatings

-

DUNDEE United boss Ray McKinnon says t here’s “more to come” from striker James Keatings after a fine Man-of-the-Match display last weekend.

With arguably the match of t he day across t he country at Dunfermline to come tomorrow, Keatings will be a big part of any positive result United manage at East End Park.

The former Hibs man was a big doubt for the Tang erines before the Morton game last weekend but shrugged off a dead leg to lead his team to a muchneeded victory.

Before finally opening the scoring in that game after 65 minutes, Keatings saw a number of chances fall just the wrong side of the post.

And his manager Ray is confident those chances will start to find the back of the net once his striker is fully up and running.

Ray said: “Keatings didn’t train all week before the Morton game and was 50-50 to even play.

“I think there’s more to come from James, it took Scott McDonald seven games to get to the level he needs to be at and I think it’ll take James three or four to get there.

“It’s encouraging he still has a bit to go considering how he played last week.”

Saying that, though, the Tannadice gaffer doesn’t want to heap too much expectation on to the shoulders of his striker.

“He’s not there yet and I’m not going to expect anything miraculous from him,” Ray added.

“We did say he was going to have to get his fitness in the games, that’s the way it’s going to have to be but he’s getting there.”

TICKETS for tomorrow’s clash at East End Park are on sale from the Tannadice Ticket Centre.

Prices are £18 for adults, £12 for concessions and a fiver for U/12s.
