NHS Tayside board members check progress at centre

-

MEMBERS of NHS Tayside and the Endowment Advisory Group visited Letham Health and Wellbeing Centre to hear about the recent progress in care developments at the facility.

The centre, which opened in October 2015, acts as a hub for local health and wellbeing solutions for the community of Letham.

Gail Smith, head of Community Health and Care Services (North Angus) for Angus Health and Social Care Partnership, welcomed NHS Tayside chairman Professor John Connell, Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership Integration joint board vice-chairman Doug Cross and a number of board members to the centre and introduced them to members of the multidisciplinary team based at the hub.

The team includes community nursing staff, community pharmacy staff, Voluntary Action Angus (VAA) and third sector colleagues.

During the visit, members of the team provided information on the successful developments at Letham, including nursing clinics, improved IT systems and the minor injury and illness service at the community pharmacy.

Volunteers supported by Voluntary Action Angus were also on hand to demonstrate the use of the surgery pod, which can record a person’s blood pressure and other measurements, then forward the results to their GP practice, avoiding the need for attendance at a GP surgery.

Ms Smith said: “We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the Letham Health and Wellbeing Centre.

“The support of the Letham population has been instrumental in ensuring the project has been a success.”

NHS Tayside chairman Professor John Connell (pictured) said: “I was incredibly impressed with everybody involved.”
