Lightning out to Fife

-

huge result. I am proud of the guys and the way they reacted to the game in Fife. In Kirkcaldy we generated a lot of chances but sometimes it’s the bounce of the puck that can make the difference.

“They took their chances and, although we outshot them, we didn’t take the chances we set up.

“It was frustrating to lose 5-1 as the scoreline didn’t reflect the game but to lose 5-1 or 3-2, it means the same, you don’t get any points.

‘Tonight the first goal was huge and to take a lead into the second period was important. We built on that lead and won well against one of the better teams.”

In Kirkcaldy on Saturday, Stars started the game without the injured Chris Lawrence and Anthony Mastrodicasa.

The home side took the lead after three minutes when Charlie Mosey scored.

Stars then started to dominate but couldn’t fine a way past Andy Iles in the Fife net.

They were made to pay for their missed chances when Flyers doubled their lead through Chase Schaber.

Then a shot by Ian Young found the net to give the hosts a 3-0 lead.

The second session saw Stars again dominate possession without taking their chances.

Jordan Cownie pounced on a rebound to bring the score back to 3-1. Schaber and Liam Heelis then netted to make it 5-1 to Fife.
