Danny feels Barry’s Jack can win again

- BY JAMES MASSON

JOCKEY Danny Cook is full of hope for Barry’s Jack, who won at Perth last week on his first run over fences.

“He was very keen early on and, turning for home, he kept his gallop up and won well,” said Danny, who kept his good strike rate going at the Scone Palace Park track.

“That’s four wins for me at Perth from, I think, 12 or 13 mounts, so it’s a good course for me,” Danny added.

“Barry’s Jack didn’t have much success in three mile point-to-point races but, having won at Perth, I’m sure he’ll win again. He could be out again very soon.”

The horse is trained by Brian Ellison, who didn’t attend the Perth race but was on the phone for a low-down on how things went immediatley the race was over.

GORDON Elliott has had well over 100 winners at Perth and he was on the mark again with Pat’s Oscar.

He described the horse as “a grand mare” and, although Gordon doesn’t attend Perth races as often as he used to due to his stable vastly increasing, he was at the track to see Pat’s Oscar win.

“Perth is very close to my heart and Pat’s Oscar win came in a nice race.”

GLENFARG-based trainer Lucy Normile has entered five of her horses for tomorrow’s Flat race meeting at Ayr.

They are Royal Regent, New Youmzain, Granite City Doc, Remember Rocky and Wolf Heart.

Two of Lucy’s National Hunt string have recent wins to their name, Karingo and Cruachan recently triumphing at Perth with Cruachan relishing last week’s heavy ground.
