Last-gasp strike Niks it for Craigie

- BY JUNICUS

FOR the second week running, there was late drama in East Craigie’s Scottish Cup tie against Rosyth.

Things couldn’t have started better for the Fifers, who took the lead in the first minute through Scott Russell. However, their joy was short lived.

The Shipbuilders replied with three goals in the next 25 minutes with Adam Brown scoring a double and Liam McArtney also on target.

But the tie was far from over as Russell added his second in 43 minutes and, with 20 minutes to go, it was all square again thanks to Stan Chitemere’s equaliser.

It looked like it was heading for a penalty shootout but, with two minutes to go, Nik Mann became the home hero when he grabbed the winner.

North End could have few complaints about their replay l oss to Glasgow Perthshire.

The visitors created the better chances in the first half and broke the deadlock in 70 minutes when substitute Dave Kirkwood rose at the far post to head in a cross from the right.

North End then applied some late pressure and Keiran Sturrock missed a couple of sitters before another of his efforts hit a post.

But they couldn’t find an equaliser and, over the 90 minutes, the Glasgow side deserved to go through.

Lochee United’s spell at the top of the Super League is over after a 1-0 defeat at Newtongrange. Kyle Lander’s strike after four minutes proved decisive.

Forfar West End went down 1-0 at new leaders Penicuik.

Carnoustie lost 4-0 at Bonnyrigg, where Pat Martin missed a penalty for the visitors.

Broughty Athletic let a 2-0 first-half lead slip and had to settle for a point against visiting Broxburn.

Goals from Chris Liversedge and Stewart McConnachie in the first 45 looked like it had set the Fed up for victory but Broxburn hit back through Kieran Anderson and a Jack Beesley penalty.

Jeanfield lost 2-1 away to Camelon. Jamie Reid scored for Switts.
