Albion delight as victory is secured

-

FORFAR Albion registered their first North League win of the season, beating Coupar Angus 4-2.

An Adam Fraser double had Albion two up, only for Coupar striker Alex Gibb to score twice to level matters before the break.

But David Cargill with another double secured Albion’s first points of the season.

Violet maintained their position at the top with a controversial win over Blairgowrie.

The Berrypickers took the lead through Gordon Norrie, who was red-carded in 35 minutes.

However, the big talking point came on the hour mark when Blair were awarded a penalty. Darren Neave scored from the spot-kick but the referee disallowed the goal for encroachment, much to the dismay of the visitors, and awarded a free-kick to Violet.

The Pansies then added to Blair’s misery with three goals in the last six minutes from Blair White, Ben Middleton and Gavin Thomson to take the points.

Harp turned in their poorest performance of the season, losing 3-0 against Lochore.

Luncarty cruised to a 5-0 home win over Brechin Vics. Player/boss Jon Kelly, Kieran Donald (2), Steve McAllister (pen) and Dale Robertson got the goals. Kinnoull thrashed Newburgh 8-1 at Tulloch Park. The Perth side’s scorers were David Gray, with a hat-trick, a Ben Ragan double and singles from Greg Whyte, Mark Smith and Darren Gray. Fraser Wilson counted for ’Burgh. Scone Thistle eased their way to a 4-0 home win over Arbroath Vics. Sean Whitworth and a quickfire Aaron McKay double put them three up after 25 minutes, with sub Aaron Carlon adding the fourth.
