ROUND-UP Wanderers lose but GM earn a divide at DISC

IN the men’s National Hockey League One, penalty corner goals by Gavin Byers and Aiden McQuade earned a 2-2 draw for Grove-Menzieshil­l against Edinburgh University at DISC.

However, Dundee Wanderers lost 2-0 to Grange despite a good all-round performanc­e.

Western Wildcats had a 5-2 win over Inverleith which moves them back into top place, ahead of Grange and Kelburne.

Clydesdale had a 2-1 win over Uddingston.

In Division Two, Perthshire and Harris FP had off days with ’ Shire l osing 4-1 to Watsonians, after being 3-1 down at half-time, while Harris lost 4-2 to Falkirk and Linlithgow.

FMGM Monarchs had their hands full against a no frills Highland team who scored in each half before Callum Boag netted Monarchs goal in their 2-1 defeat.

Highland had about a dozen penalty corners and Monarch keeper Sean Thomson did well to block most of them.

Wanderers II were in Edinburgh to play Edinburgh University in their Regional Division Two match. A goal by Eli Ross then a Paul Dailly double from penalty corners counted in a 3-1 win.

In t he Ladies National Division One, Wanderers and Grove-Menzieshil­l had wins. It was 4-1 over Grange for Wanderers and 3-1 for Grove over Edinburgh University.

Amy Snell and Charlotte Watson scored in each half for Wanderers while Sue Jamieson and Jude McMullen netted for Grove.

Other scores — Clydesdale 5 Glasgow Kelvinside 1, Watsonians 1 Western Wildcats 2.

In the Ladies Division One, Grove II had a 2-1 win over Waverley Inveresk I.

Perthshire Ladies had a 7-0 win over St Andrews University II and then a 3-3 draw against Kelburne II. In Championsh­ip Two, Kinross had a 4-2 win over Grange II.

Midland Ladies League Cup scores — Pool A — Grove III 3 Kinross II 2, St Andrews University III 5 Madras II 0.

Pool B — Perthshire III 4 Monarchs 3.

Pool C — St Andrews University IV 0 Perthshire II 3, Madras 7 Stirling University II 1.

In the European Men’s League in Barcelona, Kelburne lost 9-1 to Spain’s Club Egara and 1-0 to France’s St Germain.

There are no scheduled Midland men’s games this weekend but Dundee Wanderers III play their fourth team at Dalnacraig (3.30pm) on Saturday.

The Midland Ladies League Cup continues with Kinross II v Madras II and St Andrews University III v Wanderers II i n Pool A, Monarchs v Blairgowri­e and Brechin v Perthshire III in Pool B and, in Pool C, Stirling University II v Perthshire II and St Andrews University IV v Madras I.

In the Men’s National League Division One, MJV Dundee Wanderers host Kelburne at Dalnacraig (2pm).

Grove Menzieshil­l have no game. Other Division One games are Western Wildcats v Grange, Inverleith v Clydesdale and Edinburgh University v Hillhead.

In Division Two, Harris FP play Dunfermlin­e at DISC (11.30). The FPs urgently require l uck and points. University of St Andrews are away to Watsonians while Perthshire host Glasgow University.

Division Three has FMGM Monarchs away to Strathclyd­e University. Monarchs will be keen to return to winning ways.

At DISC in Regional Division One, Grove-Menzieshil­l II play Grange II (4pm).

Dundee Wanderers II have no game.
