Coach Pacha have got to be

DUNDEE Stars collected one point this weekend. After a 4-3 loss after penalty shots against Manchester Storm on Saturday they lost 5-2 to Sheffield Steelers in Dundee.

However, their performances were a marked improvement on their poor showings against Edinburgh Capitals the previous week when coach Omar Pacha was critical of his players.

He said: “It’s been a frustrating weekend as we have picked up some more injuries.

“Johan Andersson had to go off and we will know more today about the extent of his injury. Cameron McGiffin picked up a serious one and it looks as though he could be out for a month.

“We have had our share of injuries with Chris Lawrence still out but Anthony Mastrodicasa will be back next week.

“We let it slip against Manchester, losing a short-handed goal with a minute left on the clock. However, we competed well and a point away from home against the leaders isn’t bad.

“Against Sheffield, we went down 3-0 and brought it back to 3-2. We almost levelled it on the powerplay but it wasn’t to be and they got the fourth.

“We competed well but are just not creating enough on the offence.”

On Saturday in Altrincham, Stars took the lead when Adam Harding found the net.

Storm’s Jay Rosehill then took a twominute penalty for interference. On the resultant powerplay, Taylor Dicken made it 2-0 to the visitors.

With only 12 seconds left in the stanza, Oliver-Marc Mimar struck to make it 3-0.

Stars’ Johan Andersson was given two minutes and Scott Pitt scored on the powerplay to get the home side on the board.

Then Luke Moffat netted after a shot from Dane Byers appeared to strike his skate before entering the net.

Storm pressed for the equaliser but it looked as though Stars were set to hold out for a win.

However, with just over one minute left, Stars were given a powerplay when Manchester’s Byers was awarded two minutes for tripping. However, they gave the puck away and Mike Hammond netted to take the game into overtime.

With no further goals in the extra period, Storm took the points on a penalty shootout with Ciaran Long bagging the winning shot for a 4-3 success.
