ROUND-UP Wanderers are well beat but keeper shines

-

MEN’S hockey Division One leaders Bromac Kelburne, winners for the past 13 years, were at Dalnacraig to play Wanderers.

Wanderers Fergus Sandison opened the scoring in the second minute and one wondered if an upset was on the way.

However, by half-time, the visitors were 2-1 ahead and, by full time, they had won 6-1 with five players sharing the goals and Jonny Christie netting a double.

The score was no reflection on Wanderers keeper Connor Downes, who did well to restrict their goal tally.

Other scores — Edinburgh University 5 Hillhead 1, Inverleith 1 Clydesdale 6, Western 3 Grange 3.

Kelburne top the table on goal difference over Western and Grange with Grove Menzieshill, who did not have a game, sitting fifth behind Clydesdale.

In Division Two, Perthshire’s 2-0 win over Glasgow University, both goals from Mike Robertson, keeps the Fair City team in the top half of the table.

Their consolation was a goal by Andrew Kernohan.

St Andrews University lost 5-2 to second-top Watsonians.
