Car salesman had indecent images
MORE than 3,000 indecent images of children were discovered on a car salesman’s computer equipment after a USB stick found in his garden was handed to police.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Scott Angus, 51, of Mid Road, Hilltown, had 2,709 still images and 386 videos totalling more than 35 hours on six electronic devices.
Of those, 56 images and more than 200 videos were of the most explicit type.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson told the court that shortly after 7.30am on June 6, police officers with a search warrant attended a property in Broughty Ferry, where Angus was living.
During a search a number of electronic items were seized, the fiscal said.
She told the court how a USB stick was found lying in the garden, underneath a window, and was handed to police.
Angus was taken to police HQ and gave a “no comment” interview. The fiscal explained that on one of the tablet computers seized, an application called Keepsafe was found, which allows users to store photographs in a secure pinprotected location.
A similar application was found on one of the mobile phones, while content was found on another tablet and on a laptop which was consistent with the user searching a photo-hosting website and a peerto-peer file-sharing programme for indecent images of children.
Angus admitted that between August 13 2015 and June 4 this year, at an address in Broughty Ferry, he took or permitted to be taken or made indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.
He also admitted that on June 6, at the same address, he possessed indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael told Angus he would require reports and deferred sentence on him until November 13, placing him on bail.
He also placed him on the sex offenders register in the interim.
Angus worked as a car salesman in Dundee for several years — selling vehicles for firms including Mini and Citroen — at locations including Dryburgh Industrial Estate.
He has previously been described as a “Mini specialist” and a “brand manager” during his work with the company.
