Get involved in women’s festival

-

THE organisers behind the next Dundee Women’s Festival have issued a fresh appeal for people and organisations to get involved.

Next year’s festival, which has the theme of “A Vote for the Future”, is accepting applications from exhibitors, performers and others wishing to take part until November 3.

Previous festivals have included talks, workshops and performance art, all celebrating women in Dundee.

For 2018, organisers hope to mark 100 years of women’s suffrage, while also celebrating the Year of the Young Person in Scotland.

A whole host of new partners have been recruited for the festival, the 11th consecutive year it has run in its current form.

These include Dundee Museum of Transport, V&A Dundee’s community outreach team and Dark Dundee, which will be hosting special walking tours.

Prue Watson, chairwoman of the festival committee, said: “We are still looking for individuals and organisations who want to participate in this unique women’s festival in Scotland.

“It is big, it is inclusive and we want to offer something for everyone. “There is still time to apply.” The 2018 festival runs from March 4-17, coinciding with International Women’s Day on March 8.
