Abertay students gain experience

-

STUDENTS at Abertay University have undertaken a series of high pressure challenges in this year’s Innovation for Global Growth event.

About 120 students were handed client briefs by six major firms, given 90 minutes to form a solution, and then told to pitch it to a panel of executives over the course of three days.

Firms taking part i nclude Coca-Cola, the Scottish Football Association, Xplore Dundee, Handelsbanken, and the Wise Group.

The range of challenges included attracting customers without mass advertising, creating a sustainable future for outreach projects and supporting Dundee to become a low-emission zone.

The final of the three-day event took place at West Ward Works.

David Cook, of Cook Creative, said: “When Abertay approached us about being part of Innovation for Global Growth we were delighted to get on board. It’s fantastic to be among such an esteemed and varied selection of businesses.”

Claire MacEachen, academic curriculum manager for Dundee Business School, said the talent shown by students this year had been outstanding.

She added: “IGG is a great opportunity for students to gain first-hand experience of the pressures of a pitching environment. It helps them learn what’s required in response to business briefs from high-level companies.

“Our thanks go to all six of the firms involved for making the event such a success.”
