ALL Gary Barlow fans could do was pray that they would get tickets for his gig at the Caird Hall when they went on sale today.

Briefs became available for the Take That icon’s solo tour at 10am and were expected to sell out in minutes.

The singer will perform at the Caird Hall in Dundee and Perth Concert Hall in April.

Fans were seen queuing up from 7am to try to snap up the tickets from the city’s box office.

Robert Fleming was one of the locals who braved the early-morning chill in a bid to ensure he got a ticket for the show.

The 32-year-old said: “I have been here since 7am to try to get tickets.

“The tickets are actually for my girlfriend Cheryl and her mum.

“My girlfriend is in a wheelchair so couldn’t make it down herself, so I surprised her and told her I would go for them.

“I know she is a massive Gary Barlow fan so she will be so excited to see the show.

“I’m sure Cheryl will have an amazing time and tell me all about it when she comes home.”

Peter Sime, 56, from Lochee, added: “I’m here for my wife but I’m sure I will be with her on the night. It’s a great excuse for a night out. She is a massive Gary Barlow fan.

“It’s not very often you get big names coming to the city so it is great they are trying to bring more big acts.”

The Take That star will play a number of up-close-and-personal shows when he embarks on a 33-date solo tour next year.

The 46-year-old will stop off at the Caird Hall on Friday April 20.

He will also perform in Perth’s Concert Hall the night before.

Gary last toured as a solo artist in 2014 to acclaim from fans and critics, appearing at some of the biggest venues he has played as a solo artist.

He is one of Britain’s most successful songwriters, having written 14 number one singles as well as being a six-time recipient of an Ivor Novello Award.

He has written songs for Shirley Bassey and Elton John.

Barlow previously visited the city in 2016 to surprise Dundee woman Jill Campbell on her 30th birthday.

The city music teacher had launched a viral bid to get the star to pay her a visit and she succeeded.
