Fed have to learn lessons says boss

- BY JUNICUS

BROUGHTY Athletic head to Hill of Beath tomorrow, looking to learn the lessons from last week’s defeat against Penicuik

Despite that loss, Fed manager Jim Finlayson refused to be downhearted, preferring to look at the positives from the game.

He said: “We were up against the league leaders, who are a very useful side, but we know we can do much better and will work on cutting out the individual errors.

“We hope we can improve against Hill of Beath but this will be another tough game.”

Finlayson has added Stewart McConnachie to last week’s pool.

Following three straight defeats, Lochee United will be looking to stop the rot but face a formidable task away to leaders Penicuik.

After looking like possible title contenders a few weeks ago, the Bluebells have gone off the boil and manager George Shields could freshen up the side.

His choices are limited, however, with Mark Stewart, Aaron Whitehead, Danny Millar and Kevin Buchan all out.

Carnoustie will also hope they can get back in the winning way against Jeanfield at Laing Park.

The Gowfers have lost their last four league matches. They will make a late selection. Swifts are without Jamie Reid while Matt Curtis continues in goal as Mark Mitchell is still sidelined.

Forfar West End now prop up the table and head to Bo’ness, who are only just above the drop zone.

So it is a crucial game for West End because they are in danger of becoming detached at the foot of the table.
