Ray: Livi loss a reminder for Utd

The Tangerines welcome Inverness Caley Thistle to Tannadice tomorrow aiming to put their last performance well and truly behind them.

Ray and his side took plenty of flak after the 2-0 reverse at the Tony Macaroni Arena and the United gaffer wants to use that to motivate his side to a better showing tomorrow.

Ray said: “I think that’s the extremes i n the emotions everybody is feeling — one week things were so high and then suddenly it’s down there.

“In the first half last week, we have to give Livi, credit they worked extremely hard and got very lucky break with the goal, he (Mullen) maybe scores that one in 100. In the second half we played really well and had them penned in for the whole second half but got caught with a sucker punch.

“In that period, we need to score.

“We had chances and never took them.

“It probably feels worse than it actually was so we just need to make sure we’re focused tomorrow.

“We need to get back at it, exactly the same as we were before, getting at teams and creating chances.

“Last Saturday was just a wee bump in the road and it’s a reminder we need to be at it for 90 minutes, you can’t give away a cheap goal in this league.

“I’m looking for a reaction. The boys are motivated and were disappointed last week so they’re raring to go for tomorrow.”

Since arriving at the club, Ray’s home record as manager has been top notch, losing just the once — a record he’s keen to see his charges extend.

He added: “We’re at home and have done really well at home, the boys like playing at Tannadice so we’ll be looking go there to win tomorrow.

“They’ve kept three clean sheets i n a row and Coll Donaldson comes back and will have a point to prove, so it’ll be tough.

“They’re hitting a bit of form so it should be a good game to look forward to.

“If we get everybody bang at it tomorrow, we’ve a great chance.”

DUNDEE United boss Ray McKinnon says last week’s Livingston loss was a “reminder” for his side as they target a return to winning ways tomorrow.

Coll Donaldson returns to Tannadice tomorrow.
