No dwelling Tangerines

- BY GEORGE CRAN

HARRY Lewis says there’s no time for Dundee United to dwell on last week’s setback at Livingston as they look to get back on track tomorrow against Inverness.

The Tangerines welcome Caley Thistle to Tannadice this weekend looking to keep pace with leaders St Mirren by following up the opening-day victory in the Highlands with another win.

That 1-0 success at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium was goalkeeper Lewis’ league debut for the club after joining on loan from Southampton over the summer.

And it’s a result United are keen to repeat tomorrow in front of their own fans.

Lewis said: “That was my league debut for the club.

“It was a tough game but, on the day, we ground out the win.

“Obviously it would be nice to win by a few goals this time but we’ll take another 1-0 win.

“I think a win will be important — we need to show Livingston was a blip and we can put that behind us.

“It’s really important for us to kick on, there’s no time to dwell on defeats and feel sorry for ourselves, we need to put what went wrong right.

“We looked in depth at last week’s game individually, we looked at our own individual performances and things we were and weren’t happy with, myself included.

“There’s no point feeling sorry for ourselves, we could have come in on Monday morning down in the dumps but we came in and looked to the next game.

“We’re looking to put things right tomorrow, there was no excuses for the performance against Livingston, it was embarrassing.

“It wasn’t good enough and I can understand all the fans’ frustrations.

“We’ve got to look at ourselves in situations like that but it’s important we put it behind us and we kick on because tomorrow is a massive game for us.”

This is Lewis’ debut season in senior football and he’s enjoying life at Tannadice but has quickly discovered how difficult a division the Championship is in his short time at the club.

“You can see after the first quarter of the season that this is not an easy league,” he added.

“By no stretch of the imagination are we going to win every week and walk our way through the league, there are very competitive teams, there’s teams with all
