Police plea after boy hurt

POLICE launched an appeal today for the driver of a car involved in a collision with a 14-year-old boy in Dundee to come forward.

The boy suffered an injury to his ankle after a silver or light-coloured car was in collision with him.

A spokesman for the force’s Tayside Division said t hat t he i ncident happened around 4.45pm on Thursday in Victoria Street.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and offered help.

However, his offer was declined and he left the scene.

The driver is described as male, in his thirties, with brown/red hair and a beard, and was wearing a red and white-striped polo shirt and blue jeans.

There is no f urther informatio­n about the car.

Police Scotland was called to the popular city beauty spot yesterday after the discovery, shortly before 5.30pm.

The man’s body was found in a wooded area close to the Law Crescent allotments by a person walking their dog.

The Scottish Ambulance Service was also called to the scene.

Officers from Police Scotland guarded entrances to t he spot yesterday to prevent people from entering.

A Police Scotland spokesman said today that inquiries were at an early stage.

However, the death is not being treated as suspicious.

An area of the Law steps was taped off by the force today.

A person walking in the area today said it was upsetting to hear a body had been discovered.

The dog walker, who uses the area regularly, told the Tele: “I didn’t know anything about it until I noticed the small section of police tape this morning.

“It is very sad happened.

“However, it is not the first time that a body has been found in these woods.”

One resident, who lives near the Law and asked not to be named, said she was “shocked” to hear about the discovery.

She said: “I saw the police all around the hill, but I thought it would be for the drivers up there.

“The police are always up there checking in on them.
