Man accused of string of charges

Shane Reilly, 21, of Orleans Place, is accused of 16 separate charges.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody after appearing in private before Sheriff Derek Reekie on a petition.

The offences were allegedly committed between August 4 and October 18 this year.

Reilly is accused of, on August 4, at Cash Converters, Whitehall Crescent, resetting a Voodoo BMX bike, which had been stolen from the front garden of a house in Liff.

He is further accused of, on September 29, at Spar, Glamis Road, smashing a window and attempting to break into the shop and, on the same date, of attempting to break into the Tandoori Hut, Craigowan Road; attempting to break into Dino’s takeaway, Brownhill Road; breaking into Brownhill News Costcutters, and stealing alcohol and tobacco; and breaking into Charleston Supermarket, Craigmount Road, and stealing alcohol and tobacco.

Reilly is further accused of breaking into the Azaad Tandoori, Main Street, Invergowrie on October 5, and stealing £120, a computer tablet and an iPhone 7.

He is also accused of breaking into the Golden Sky, Buttars Road, on October 6, and stealing a cash register drawer and television; on October 8, of breaking i nto the Paperchase Wholesale, Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate, and stealing £300 and tobacco grinders; attempting to break into Keystore, Dunholm Road; and of breaking into Paperchase Wholesale, stealing E-cigarettes, £100, BB toy guns and E-cigarette accessories.

Reilly is also accused of, on October 12, attempting to break into Keystore; and, on October 15, of breaking into the Tesco Extra store, South Road, and stealing a cash drawer and electrical items.

He is further accused of attempting to break into Paperchase Wholesale with intent to steal on October 17, and of breaking into Tesco Extra, South Road, and stealing a cash drawer containing a cash, aftershave, alcohol and electrical goods. He is also accused of breaking into Scotmid, Main Street, Invergowrie, on October 18, and stealing cash, alcohol and tobacco products.

Sheriff Derek Reekie continued the case for further examination.
