McIntosh was ‘lazy’

Law killer reported by charity workplace

-

LAW killer Robbie McIntosh was reported for being lazy while on day release, the Tele can reveal.

McIntosh admitted at the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday attempting to murder to Linda McDonald on August 7 at Templeton Woods.

He committed the crime while out on day release from Castle Huntly, where he had been transferred to from HMP Greenock, while serving his sentence for the murder of Anne Nicoll in 2001 on the Law.

McIntosh previously carried out a placement at Kibble, a charity which provides support for young people facing adversity or trauma.

McIntosh was reported to prison bosses at Greenock for being workshy and lazy while on the placement at the Paisley facility.

It is understood the charity had no concerns about McIntosh’s behaviour but he failed to engage with the programme and had a poor work rate.

A Kibble spokesman said McIntosh had been on a training course while on day release and had “at no point” been alone with any vulnerable children.

Kibble chief executive Jim Gillespie said: “The safety and wellbeing of our young people is our top priority.

“During our partnership with Greenock prison, each placement was risk-assessed to ensure that they met strict conditions.

“Our staff and young people have been protected from risk at all times. We work hard to protect some of the most vulnerable young people in Scotland and we would never jeopardise their safety.”

A Scottish Prison Service spokeswoman said: “A rigorous risk assessment is undertaken prior to any offender being granted unescorted leave.”

McIntosh admitted he repeatedly bludgeoned Mrs McDonald with a dumbbell as she walked her dog in Templeton Woods, leaving her for dead.

The 31-year-old only stopped the attack when he was disturbed by other dog walkers, despite his victim’s desperate cries of, “please, please, why are you doing this?”

The 52-year-old mother-of-two suffered permanent disfigurement as a result of the attack.

McIntosh is due to be sentenced next month.
