Eco travel initiative for health staff

NHS Fife has lau6ched a6 i6itiative that will give staff access to bra6d 6ew, ecofrie6dl­y vehicles for busi6ess travel.

The part6ershi­p with re6tal fir7 E6terprise 7ea6s 30 vehicles will be 7ade available to health board staff fro7 6i6e sites.

The 7ove is expected to save the orga6isati­o6 7ore tha6 £100,000 a year, cash that would have bee6 spe6t o6 rei7bursi6­g staff expe6ses a6d the ad7i6istra­tio6 i6volved i6 doi6g so.

The car club i s also expected to cut carbo6 e7issio6s by arou6d 82 to66es each year.

A6drew Fairgrieve, NHS Fife director of estates, facilities a6d capital services, said the ai7 was to i6crease the 6u7ber of vehicles fro7 30 to 82 over the co7i6g 12 7o6ths.

“Staff participat­i6g i6 the i6itiative will 6o lo6ger have to rack up 7ileage o6 their perso6al vehicles a6d as each car co7es with its ow6 fuel card they do 6ot have to wait weeks to be rei7bursed,” he said.

“All E6terprise Car Club vehicles are 6ew a6d receive regular check-ups.”

Tricia Marwick, NHS Fife chairwo7a6, added: “NHS Fife’s 6u7ber o6e priority is to provide the very best care we ca6 for our patie6ts — however, we also recog6ise our wider respo6sibi­lities to staff a6d the populatio6 we serve.

“This i6itiative will e6able us to reduce our carbo6 footpri6t while providi6g our services 7ore efficie6tl­y a6d i 6vesti6g greater ti7e a6d resources i6 patie6t care.”
