Suttie setback as Fed await Bathgate

-

BROUGHTY Athletic have been handed a blow ahead of their Scottish Cup tie against Bathgate Thistle at Whitton Park with news defender Ryan Suttie has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury.

He joins a list of influential players already on the treatment table, namely Paul McLellan and Jamie McCunnie, who are still set to be out for several weeks.

This will be manager Jim Finlayson’s first Scottish Cup tie in charge of the Fed and he will be keen to avoid the Premier League side causing an upset.

There is a local derby at Glenesk where Violet face Forfar West End.

The Pansies have gone off the boil recently, failing to win in their last three matches, but West End have also found life tough in the Super League and currently sit at the foot of the table.

The visitors should start as favourites but the Pansies have nothing to lose and, if they can recapture their early-season form, they might just cause an upset.

They will be without Ross McLeary, Blair Whyte and Liam McIntosh.

West End are only missing Matt Ramsay.

JUNIOR football followers will be saddened to hear of the death of Angus Gallacher Snr.

‘Old Gus’ was a popular figure at Elmwood JFC, where he served as a loyal committee man from the mid-80s.
