Tommy keen on an improvement

-

“WE were better against Ross County but there is room for i mprovement,” said St Johnstone manager To m my W r i g h t a s h e reflected on Tuesday’s 0-0 home divide.

The Perth side start their second round of games away to Partick tomorrow with Tommy adding: “We need a bit of good fortune.”

Saints have taken only one point from their last four fixtures and haven’t netted a goal but Tommy is trusting the tide will turn at Firhill.

“I’m looking forward to the game and hoping we can continue our improvement,” he went on.

“There were positives to take from the Ross County game.

“We kept a clean sheet and we looked solid but we can do better in the last third.”

Saints will wait and see how Michael O’Halloran is before deciding on their team.

The striker was taken off against Ross County with an ankle knock.

T h e Pe r t h team got Michael off early and Tommy is hopeful he will be fit enough to face the Jags.

The boss was pleased with the work-rate and play of Blair Alston and Stefan Scougall in the middle of the park.

“Blair and Stefan worked very hard against Ross County. They were tireless in their efforts,” Tommy commented.

He was also happy with youngster Aaron Comrie, who kept his place at right-back even though Richard Foster was available again after being out suspended.

“Aaron i s strong and committed. He did well against Hearts and Ross County. He’s small but, against Hearts, was good in the air versus Kyle Lafferty.”

SAINTS are at home to Dundee United on Sunday (1pm) in the Youth Cup.
