Woman found dead

Police say no suspicious circumstances involved

- BY JAMES SIMPSON

A WOMAN found dead in a vehicle outside a Dundee park may have been lying inside it all day.

Police were called to Pitairlie Road just before 5pm yesterday.

The car — a black Vauxhall Corsa — was parked near the j unction of Pitairlie Road and Valgreen Court opposite Mid Craigie Park.

It is understood the 59-year-old woman may have been lying dead in the vehicle all day, with one resident having seen the car just after 8am.

Police said today her death was not being treated as suspicious.

Residents reported seeing a significant police presence in the area.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said: “When I saw the police presence and the paramedics on the scene, my assumption was that a car had gone into the back of a parked vehicle.

“Although there was no sound of a collision, the windscreen of the parked car was covered so I assumed it had been smashed.

“The paramedics took a female into the back of the vehicle.

“Another vehicle had pulled up on the street and I saw someone running towards the parked car.”

Another resident said she had heard a woman had died at the wheel.

She said: “There were police and ambulance vehicles positioned around the car when I arrived home.

“I heard a woman had tragically passed away at the wheel of the vehicle.”

Another resident added: “I had spotted the vehicle there i n the morning, with it being parked close to the junction.

“I thought someone was dropping something off.”

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We were called to attend Pitairlie Road by the ambulance service around 4.45pm.

“We attended and carried out necessary investigations.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
