Positive attitude from injury-hit Stars squad

-

DUNDEE Stars travel shortbenched to Sheffield tonight for their Elite League fixture.

Added to the long-term injured trio of Chris Lawrence, Cameron McGiffin and Anthony Mastrodicasa are Jimmy Jensen, Joey de Concilys and Adam Hardin, who will all sit out the match.

Stars have already faced Steelers twice this season, suffering two defeats, 8-2 in Sheffield and 5-2 in Dundee Ice Arena.

Tonight’s contest will be a tough ask for the Taysiders with so many injuries.

However, coach Omar Pacha has travelled in a positive frame of mind and will be looking to take something from the game.

He said: “It’s always a tough game against Sheffield. And, with so many bodies out, it gives the rest of the players a chance to step up to the plate.

“We have a good team and all I ask is they give everything for 60 minutes, stick to our game plan and, hopefully, we will come away with some sort of result.’

Forward Justin Fox added: “The boys are feeling confident as we have taken points in four of our last five games.

“However, I feel we have let a few points slip away from us. I definitely feel that we are heading in the right direction and the mood in the locker room is very positive.”

Stars are looking to build on the excellent shootout win against Manchester Storm on Sunday when they came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game 4-4 in regulation time before winning the extra point on penalties.

Face-off in Sheffield tonight is 7.30.
