Dignan double in a ding-dong finish

-

IN the Super League, A stunning fightback from Carnoustie saw them score three in the last 10 minutes to escape with a point in a 3-3 draw at Broxburn.

The Gowfers pulled one back through a Jamie McCabe penalty in 81 minutes and, as panic set in on the home defence, Ryan Dignan scored twice in the space of a minute to earn the Gowfers a point.

Broughty Athletic followed up their impressive performance against Bonnyrigg with a solid 2-1 victory at Sauchie. Brian Clark gave them a first-half lead and Kevin Milne doubled their advantage after the break.

Sauchie replied with a Dave Morrison goal two minutes from time.

SconeThistle ended Lochore’s five-match winning streak with an excellent 4-1 win at Central Park.

But they had to come from behind after James Adam’s ninth-minute opener with goals from Andrew McKenzie and Arran McKay giving them an interval advantage. Ross Mitchell and Ben Moffat gotThistle’s second-half goals.

Violet sent eight past Arbroath Vics at Glenesk, though the visitors losing keeper Arran Lyall to injury after just five minutes was a mitigating factor.

Indeed, outfield coach Dave Sturrock took over and they were only a goal down at the interval before the floodgates opened after the interval.

Craig Batchelor and Gavin Thomson both hit doubles with Bradie Heggie, Conner Coupe, Ben Middleton and Ryan Menzies also on target.

Forfar Albion boss Mark Campbell admitted his side rode their luck a bit in their 3-1 win at Newburgh.

He said,“The lads’ work ethic has been terrific and it was great to see them rewarded for their efforts.”

Two up thanks to goals from brothers Brad and Connor Airlie, Newburgh reduced the leeway courtesy of a Matt Woods penalty. However, David Cargill added Albion’s third to seal victory.
