Appeal for volunteer gritters

PERTH and Kinross Council is seeking volunteers to grit sections of footways over the winter months.

Volunteers will be asked to clear pavements with a push-along spreader.

Anyone who wants to help their community and is fit enough to use the equipment is encouraged to come forward.

The spreader and a salt supply will be provided, along with full training and guidance.

Volunteers won’t be expected t o be out in severe weather conditions and no liability will be placed on them, provided they act i n accordance with the guidance.

Council leader Ian Campbell said: “I would ask our residents to consider volunteering to help with the spreaders, which are being made available.

“The responsibility for the roads and footpath network is huge and any assistance that can be provided by the local community is always welcome.”
