AN MSP is to meet with fire bosses to seek reassurances over the future of Dundee’s f our fire stations.

Mike Rumbles, the Liberal Democraft MSP for North-East Fife, will meet with Iain Bushell, deputy chief officer of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, early next month.

There are fears that stations at Macalpine Road, Blackness Road, Kingsway East and Balmossie, could face cuts after a document revealed plans to cut costs.

Mr Rumbles said: “I welcome this opportunity to speak to the deputy chief officer in person.

“He has reassured me that no decisions have yet been made and that none will be until the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has conducted a full and meaningful public consultation.”

Ferry councillor Craig Duncan added: “What matters now i s for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Government t o give a full commitment to local people that there will be no reduction in the service for Dundee.”
