Talks over city’s fire sta­tions

AN MSP is to meet with fire bosses to seek re­as­sur­ances over the fu­ture of Dundee’s f our fire sta­tions.

Mike Rum­bles, the Lib­eral Democraft MSP for North-East Fife, will meet with Iain Bushell, deputy chief of­fi­cer of the Scottish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice, early next month.

There are fears that sta­tions at Ma­calpine Road, Black­ness Road, Kingsway East and Bal­mossie, could face cuts af­ter a doc­u­ment re­vealed plans to cut costs.

Mr Rum­bles said: “I wel­come this op­por­tu­nity to speak to the deputy chief of­fi­cer in per­son.

“He has re­as­sured me that no de­ci­sions have yet been made and that none will be un­til the Scottish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice has con­ducted a full and mean­ing­ful pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion.”

Ferry coun­cil­lor Craig Dun­can added: “What mat­ters now i s for the Scottish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice and the Scottish Gov­ern­ment t o give a full com­mit­ment to lo­cal peo­ple that there will be no re­duc­tion in the ser­vice for Dundee.”
