Mock case will put employers in the know

-

DIRECTORS, managers and HR professionals have been invited to see first-hand the workings of an employment tribunal during a mock case, to help them better understand the process ahead of any real life scenarios in their workplace.

Scottish law firm Thorntons is hosting a free mock hearing event for the case of “Jon Snow v Westeros Garage” at Dundee University on Thursday November 23 from 5.15pm.

Thorntons’ team of employment law specialists will demonstrate strategies to minimise the risk to employers of facing a claim in the first place.

In the mock scenario, the character of Jon Snow is made redundant after eight years’ service and raises a case for unfair dismissal.

All attendees will have the opportunity to participate with the tribunal judge to help determine the ultimate outcome.

Noele McClelland, employment law specialist and partner at Thorntons, said: “Facing an employment tribunal hearing can be a daunting experience for many businesses — small or large.

“We hope that through the informal mock tribunal, employers will benefit from having a better understanding of the whole process.”
