Call for action
GREEN MSP Mark Ruskell has called for improved regulation of short-term holiday lets in Fife.
The Mid Scotland and Fife MSP, who has previously called for holiday home owners to be charged non-domestic rates, has raised the issue of properties rented out via online sites.
He said: “In recent years thousands of people across Scotland have started letting out their homes via online platforms without obtaining consent, paying business taxes or passing the rigorous safety checks needed in registered self-catering accommodation.
“It’s vital we get a handle on this situation before we see a further clearance of the local population from Fife’s beautiful villages and rural areas.”
