IN the Dundee Saturday Morning League (DSMFL) Balgay Bar First Division Cup, the folding of Charleston means two from three will go through from Group A.

The Beat pulled off the result of the day, holding high flying FC Menzieshil­l to a 3-3 draw having led three times.

In the other group, St James are i n the driving seat after a hard fought 2-1 win over Ferry Mechanics.

With the Stobswell v Cairdy Thistle result missing, who will join them is uncertain.

Cannon Fodder’s 4-0 win over Monifieth gives them an outside chance of progressin­g with two games to play.

Craig Stewart opened the scoring to give Fodder a half-time lead.

James Gallacher notched from close range with the tie still wide open and the introducti­on of French debutant Gabriel Marcq paid instant dividends with the pocket dynamo scoring a header with his first touch. He calmly finished two minutes later with his second.

In the Tirdent Trophies Second Division, Bank St Athletic’s 3-2 win over Stobswell Athletic puts them top in Group A.

Boars Rock’s 7-2 win over Fife Thistle sees them go second top on goal difference ahead of Sidlaw Albion, who earned a 2-1 win against Kelso.

Group B is topped by FC Boukir, who eased past Dundee City 6-2, with half-a-dozen scorers on target.

Allan Jarrett opened the scoring for the Carnoustie lads with Dave O’Sullivan, Chris Reid, Greg Anderson, Eddie Grant and Russell Stewart also on the mark.

Cleppy Social’s 3-3 draw against Charlie’s Accies keeps them i n second on goal difference, while Clark’s FC’s 4-0 win over Occidental keeps them in the chase.

This weekend sees 20 DSMFL teams i n the second round of t he Direct Soccer sponsored North of Tay Cup.

There are four allDSMFL ties with Cairdy Thistle taking on DUSC, Cannon Fodder at home to Club 83, Stobswell AFC playing St James and Boars Rock clashing with Hawkhill. All those ties are morning kick-offs.
