Scougall boost for Perth Saints

-

ST JOHNSTONE have received a major boost on the eve of t heir game against Hibs at Easter Road tomorrow.

It was thought midfield man Stefan Scougall would miss out due to a muscle injury but he has been declared fit and is in the squad.

The same applies t o Murray Davidson and Michael O’Halloran who have also been struggling with injuries.

Chris Millar, too, has a chance of being involved.

He will be assessed today but it looks as though he will make it.

Brian Easton is still out, however, with a knee injury sustained i n t he away match against Partick.

As he looked ahead to the game, Saints team boss Tommy Wright said: “We’ve had a good break and are now looking forward to the match.

“The players have been working hard in training this week and are enjoying being back i n playing action.

“Alan Mannus and Paul Paton have been on international duty with Northern Ireland and have returned OK.”

Should Michael O’Neill leave his post as Northern Ireland team boss, Tommy Wright could be the man to replace him.

However, the Saints gaffer said: “I am happy at St Johnstone and my chairman Steve Brown wants me to stay longer.

“When we signed the last contract, and that was quite a while ago, he said that ‘one day, when you leave here, it could be for your national team job’ and we haven’t spoken about it in recent weeks.

“He knows that it is like any Scottish manager, if they were linked to the Scottish job, your country is your country, and for me it is the top job that I could probably ever achieve.”
