Gridlocked by vehicles blocking lane

-

I KNOW in Dundee we are fortunate in that our “rush hour” isn’t too bad when compared with other cities.

However, it is still not fun to be caught in a queue at the end of the day when all you want to do is get home.

With just a little consideration and tweaking of behaviour from some drivers, things could certainly be improved.

I was heading to Inverness at the back of four recently and had called into the Tesco garage on Riverside Drive en route.

Coming out of there, the traffic was backed up from the lights at the V&A.

As I was turning right, I should have been able to swing around the circle and get on my way.

However, other drivers who were heading into the city just drove on to the circle and blocked the lanes.

We were gridlocked waiting for a huge volume of traffic to clear.

Of course as the lights changed and the vehicles moved, those behind them just kept coming in a bid to get as close to junction as they could, so the same thing happened.

If you can’t see your way off of the mini circle, don’t sit on it and block it for everyone else.

Knowing I had a long drive ahead of me probably made me less patient, but it was just such an unnecessary delay to be faced with.

Drivers having a wee bit of thought for other road-users could make everyone’s journeys much more pleasant.

Think about it.
