Utd old heads have big part to play says Csaba

- By Tom DUTHIE

CSABA Laszlo believes his experienced players can play a major role in leading Dundee United back to the Premiership.

And that includes a couple who are not currently in his starting line-up.

Csaba has already stressed he expects a contribution from every player he selects, regardless of their age.

But he knows the likes of Willo Flood, Tam Scobbie, Scott McDonald, Paul Quinn and William Edjenguele have a knowledge from years in the game to bring a little extra to the table.

“They are very important because these guys — Willo, Scobbie and McDonald — they can lead the team,” said Csaba.

“And if I am honest, on the bench against Falkirk I also had two very experienced players in William Edjenguele and Paul Quinn.

“Paul came into the game late and played in a position he had never played before but he did a good job.

“Sometimes I have these crazy ideas and it was more or less OK for the last 10 minutes.

“My i dea was that with his experience, and also he is very comfortable with the ball, he would sit just in front of the central defence so that Falkirk i n the l ast 10 minutes, 15 minutes, didn’t get the chance to score.

“He was able to do this because he has the experience and that is important for the team.”

And while he’s sat out the last three league victories, Frenchman Edjenguele remains very much part of the plans.

“I sent William to play with the Development Team on Monday and he did a fantastic job and showed his attitude.

“I am sure he will come back and I am sure he will take his place also in the first XI.

“This is good because we have a very tight squad. We don’t have here maybe 40 or 35 players.

“We have 22 plus goalkeepers. We need this because we don’t have the break over Christmas and we also have to go and play in the Scottish Cup.”

United, meanwhile, will be well supported when they head up the A90 to Brechin on Saturday.

They’ve already sold over 1,000 of the 1,800 tickets they were sent in advance and sales were again brisk today.

Any tickets that remain unsold will be available from the club shop right up until one o’clock on Saturday and there will also be cash turnstiles in operation.
