Dundee are no soft touch says Gowser

- BY GEORGE CRAN

PAUL McGowan says Dundee’s two impressive victories on the bounce proves they’re no “soft touch”.

The Dark Blues are buzzing after Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Ross County backed up their 2-1 beating of Rangers i n the best possible fashion.

And McGowan is adamant if they can keep up that kind of form they can beat anybody — starting with Aberdeen on Friday night.

He said: “To go up to Ross County and come away with a 2-0 victory speaks highly of the performance — not many teams win up there.

“It’s a tricky venue — it took Celtic a last-gasp goal to win their game.

“We dominated the game throughout, our passing and defending was great and I think it was a great performance all-round.

“That’s two good wins after a sticky start and a few people writing us off but we always believed in the ability in the team and that’s starting to show.

“We restricted them and we had a lot of chances — that shows how good our performance was.

“We probably weren’t at our best against Rangers but we ground the game out and we’re starting to mix it up.

“It’s not just about being a passing team and people might think we’re a soft touch — we aren’t.

“We’ve shown in the last two results we can dig in and make it hard for teams to score.

“That’s the most pleasing thing. People might wonder if we’ve got that in us but we have, we always had it.

“We just haven’t shown it as much as we can but you could see the togetherness was there on Saturday, putting bodies on the line, last-ditch tackles and helping team-mates out.

“It’s great and I’m so happy for the team.

“We’ve lost a lot of goals prior to these games and we were being analysed quite a bit but I felt the full team on Saturday were exceptional, we’re looking a real team and we just need to carry that on.”
