Saints’ chances to get on track

-

ST JOHNSTONE’S hectic December programme got off to a poor start with a 2-1 home l oss against Kilmarnock.

After Hamilton away on S a t u r d a y, they face Aberdeen (home), Rangers (away), Hear ts ( home), Ross County (away) and Dundee (home) this month.

Midfield man David Wotherspoon said: “There are plenty of chances to recover in December.

“We were gutted to lose to Killie, especially coming off a good win away to Hibs. H ow ev e r, w e h a d n o excuses.”

David nearly levelled it up against Killie with a terrific strike which struck the bar.

He added: “I thought it might sneak in but it didn’t.”

Four players with firstteam experience, Chris Millar, Ally Gilchrist, Craig Thomson and Denny Johnstone, were part of the Saints Development League team who defeated their Falkirk counterparts 2-0 at the Falkirk Stadium.

Ally McCann netted the first and Shaun Struthers scored No 2.

Thomson came close to netting when he hit a post.

Both scorers have come through the Saints youth system with Struthers having joined up from the Letham under-age set-up.

Meanwhile, Dundalk have announced the re-signing of midfielder Robbie Benson on a oneyear deal.

The midfielder was wanted by Saints but has decided to stay with the Oriel Park club.

He was also being cour ted by Shamrock Rovers.
