Lochee new man set for cup debut

- BY JUNICUS

LOCHEE United could include new signing Jamie Reid in their line-up for tomorrow’s third round Scottish Cup tie against Johnstone Burgh at Thomson Park.

Reid has joined the Bluebells from Elgin City. He also had spells with Dundee, Stenhousemuir, Montrose and Arbroath.

The attacker has been training with Lochee for the past 18 months as Elgin have sessions up north.

The move sees Aaron Whitehead leave the club in the opposite direction but, although the Bluebells are disappointed to lose the defender, they are well covered in that area.

Meanwhile, Lochee will be minus Mark Stewart, Kevin Buchan, Bryan Deasley, Paddy Deane and Scott McComiskie.

Downfield will be without three key players for their tie against Wishaw.

In addition to defenders Jack Neave and James Thomson, who are both suspended, the Spiders have been dealt a further blow with the news that Calvin Colquhoun will be out for a number of weeks after fracturing an arm.

There is better news for Carnoustie manager Alan McSkimming as the Gowfers prepare to take on Petershill at Laing Park.

Although Ryan Roche and Jamie Robbie are still out, the manager will have Steven Cook available after recovering from injury, while Ewan Buggins has returned from holiday and is also included in the squad.

After two postponements, Forfar West End and Scone Thistle, who host Shotts Bon Accord and Kilsyth Rangers as visitors respectively, could well be left kicking their heels yet again.

Certainly the news from the West End camp was pessimistic, with tie in serious doubt and a morning inspection already in place.

If it does beat the elements, West End expect to have a full squad available.

There were more optimistic noises of Scone Thistle prospects but, with the temperature dropping, a pitch inspection is likely to be required.

Only Fraser McDonald and Ben Moffat are missing from the Thistle squad.
