Fraser has will to add to talent

-

DUNDEE United gaffer Csaba Laszlo says it is Scott Fraser’s work ethic i n training and not just his talent that will see him go as far as he can in the game — whether that’s at Tannadice or elsewhere.

Fraser this week has been linked with a move t o English League One side Wigan Athletic and, with his contract expiring i n the summer, will be free to speak to other clubs next month.

For Csaba, though, interest from other teams in his players shows things are going right at t he Tangerines and takes any admiring glances from other sides as a compliment for United.

He said: “Scott is a really talented player but talent is not enough.

“You have also to have the rest — for the most important is the will, the will to move forward to get everything out of you.

“If you don’t have this you can put the talent in the dustbin because it means nothing.

“He works in training, not just him but everyone does.

“I think if big teams are interested it means they are looking at us and this is interesting.

“We have also many other good players who are young and talented.

“This could be positive news for every single young player. If there’s somebody in this team doing well, they are i mmediately i n t he newspaper or t h e r e ’s interest.

“It could be fantastic for the other players and I see it as a very positive thing.”

Meanwhile, United goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet will miss out tomorrow.

The former Turkish U/19 international pulled up injured i n t he warm-up for t h e Ta n g e r i n e s ’ Development game in midweek.

That means Josh Donaldson will likely play understudy to No 1 Harry Lewis.
