Kamara: Fans go toe-to-toe

- BY GEORGE CRAN

GLEN KAMARA is taking no notice of the turmoil surrounding tonight’s opponents Aberdeen and only wants Dundee to show they can “go toe-to-toe” with one of the best sides in the country.

The Derek McInnes-to-Rangers story has turned into a saga in recent weeks with the Dons boss going against expectations and eventually turning the Glasgow side down last night.

Up until yesterday evening it looked like U/20s coach Paul Sheerin would be in the Dons dugout — now, though, it’s back to normal with McInnes in charge.

However, what advantage Dundee can take out of the disruption to their preparations is completely down to how they go about their business and, for Kamara, that means taking absolutely no notice of Aberdeen’s troubles.

He said: “We’re not focused on what’s happening with Aberdeen, we’re just focused on what we have to do tonight. “It’s all about us. “The confidence is high, all the boys are looking sharp and the manager is happy, so we’ve just got to keep that going.”

The Dark Blues go into tonight’s game on the back of their best run of the season — a draw with Kilmarnock backed up with wins over Rangers and then Ross County last weekend.

The victory in the Highlands ended up a fairly-comfortable one for Kamara and his team-mates although Faissal El Bakhtaoui’s goal to seal the win could have come a bit earlier.

Kamara, however, relished the fight and the challenge put up by the Staggies side as they fought for an equaliser and he says that’s something they can take into tonight’s clash.

He said: “Definitely, if you go and kill that game then you can sit a bit more comfortably and things can go a bit more smoothly. “It was a bit of a fight but it was good. “I thought after the first goal, in the first half we did really well and didn’t let them have many chances. In the second half they put a bit of pressure on us but I think we dealt with it well.

“We got the late goal which obviously helped us and we did well as a team.”

After the meeting earlier in the season up at Pittodrie, Dundee felt hard done by not to come away with any points.

After conceding a first-half Stevie May header, Neil McCann’s men fought back impressively in the second half with Roarie Deacon firing in a fine
