Clubs are rocked by shock resignations

- BY JUNICUS

There hasn’t been much action on junior pitch in recent weeks.

However, there has been plenty of activity behind the scenes in the last few days, starting with the shock resignation of Violet’s management team.

The Pansies are on the hunt for a new manager. Inquiries to Brian Coutts (07720 443374).

This has now been followed by the announcement that East Craigie’s longserving president, Ade Shearer, has resigned. Shearer has served the club for many years, starting as a player and the resignation prompted the club to make the following announcement.

“It is with regret the committee of ECJFC has accepted the resignation of long-standing club president, Ade Shearer.

“Ade has held numerous positions in the club and, for the last 10 years, has worked tirelessly to ensure the club stayed in existence and remained the oldest club in Dundee and one of Scotland’s oldest outfits.

“Ade has resigned for personal reasons but he goes with our thanks, best wishes and the hope he may come back.”

Meanwhile both Violet and East Craigie clubs are due to be in action tomorrow although once again pitch inspections are set to be the order of the day.

The Pansies visit Coupar Angus but will be without Kit Bremner and Steven Harris.

Craigie hope to have a full strength pool for their visit to Forfar Albion.
