Forrest targets adding to tally

-

JAMES Forrest is enjoying the best scoring form of his Celtic career and is keen for it to continue.

The 26-year-old Hoops winger notched his 11th goal of the season in the 3-1 Ladbrokes Premiership win over Hamilton at Parkhead on Wednesday night as Brendan Rodgers’ side extended their unbeaten domestic run to 69 games.

Ahead of t he visit t o Hearts on Sunday, t he Scotland international and Parkhead youth system graduate is looking to add to his tally.

“It i s the most I have scored i n a season,” he said.

“We are only halfway through, so I just want to look to every game and keep trying to get better.

“When the manager came in 18 months ago he let the forward players have a bit of freedom and he wants everyone t o add goals to their game.

“I am glad I have done that and to be contributing to the team and I just want to keep scoring more.

“It is good for the manager to have players scoring goals from all over the park and, obviously, on a personal note for me, it is really good as it helps the confidence.”

Forrest is relishing the trip to Gorgie on Sunday for what is usually one of the most hard-fought fixtures on the calendar.

He said:“We had a couple of good results the last year and we will take confidence and positivity from Wednesday into Sunday.

“It i s always a tough game there and the crowd get behind them.

“The Celtic support at Ty n e c a s t l e is always incredible and that does help.

“These are the games you want to play in because the atmosphere from the first minute is really good and it gets you going.”
