Police investigate man’ssudden death
POLICE are investigating after the body of a man was found at a flat in Dundee.
Officers were called to a property i n Strathmartine Road, in the Coldside area, around 4pm on Friday.
A 44-year-old man was found dead inside the flat.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, which is being treated as “unexplained”. His identity has not been released. There was a significant police presence at the block on Friday evening with a police officer standing guard outside the property into the following day.
Locals described seeing police at the scene just before 4pm on Friday.
Matthew Thomson, 22, who lives locally, said he saw emergency services at the scene.
He said: “I was driving past Joe’s Fish Bar and saw two police vans and an ambulance in attendance. “A woman was being interviewed and there were at least four officers standing outside one of the blocks of flats.
“It looked to be a serious incident.”
One woman who lives i n t he block said police were still at t he scene on Saturday morning.
She added: “When my partner came home at midnight on Friday there was an officer standing guard at the door of one of the flats in the close.
“My partner asked the officer what had happened but he was told that he couldn’t say anything.
“When we left on Saturday morning there was still an officer standing guard outside the block.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland confirmed officers were investigating the circumstances of the man’s death.
He added: “Officers attended an address in Strathmartine Road, Dundee, shortly before 4pm on Friday December 15 in relation to the death of a 44-yearold man.
“Although the death is being treated as unexplained, there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.
“As with all incidents of this type, a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”
