50 Grand To Lend a Hand challenge raises £66k
MORE than £66,000 has been raised for a range of charities and good causes over the past nine months by members of a Dundee housing association.
As part of Hillcrest’s 50th anniversary celebrations, staff were challenged to collectively raise £50,000.
Teams were formed, which held various fundraising activities throughout the year.
Clare McNally, Hillcrest fundraising and grants officer, said: “The winning team of our 50 Grand to Lend a Hand fundraising activities was Tequila Mockingbird, who raised an amazing £10,500 for the Archie Foundation, breast cancer and Ward 32 at Ninewells Hospital.
“Overall, our 50 Grand to Lend a Hand events raised £66,117 for various charities, which is our biggest fundraising achievement to date.
“Tequila Mockingbird played a huge role i n helping us achieve this.
“We wanted to reward the team with a celebration lunch, so were delighted when Dominos agreed to donate pizzas for free.”
Stephen Robson, operations manager for Dominos Dundee and Arbroath, said: “I was very impressed to hear about Hillcrest Housing Association’s fundraising efforts.
“What an achievement and definitely worthy of a celebration, with which Dominos was happy to help out.”
Team members from Tequila Mockingbird Bird were treated to their pizza delivery at their office in Tom Johnston Road, which tied in nicely with their Christmas jumper day. very unsatisfied with the quality of local council services, while nearly two-thirds said that they were unhappy with how the council handles its financial affairs.
However, the majority of readers — exactly two-thirds — said they would oppose a further rise in council tax to ease the strain.

Jackie Mulvey said she wasn’t happy with the appearance of much of the city.
She said: “Street cleaning is a joke. The streets need swept on a regular basis — they are filthy.”
