Denny delights Saints manager

-

ST JOHNSTONE manager Tommy Wright has praised the contribution of striker Denny Johnstone, who netted Saints’ second goal in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox.

“Denny has been looking really good lately and has shown us he is the type of player we know he is,” said Tommy.

“He did well when he came on against Hamilton and his header against Rangers was a great one.”

D e n n y, formerly of Birmingham City and Morton, is on l oan from Colchester.

Tommy felt the Rangers win was the perfect tonic after the 3-0 midweek home loss against Aberdeen.

“We fully deserved to beat Rangers,” Tommy added.

“We started well and I was disappointed we went a goal behind.

“However, we got back into it with a great Blair Alston goal.

“We worked hard and made it difficult for Rangers, passed the ball well and kept it well.”

Saints face Hearts at home on Saturday and they may have Brian Easton back in their squad. The former Hamilton, Burnley and Dundee left-back has been out for some time with a knee injury.

Aaron Comrie is still out with a hamstring knock and Murray Davidson is missing due to an ankle injury.

Michael O’Halloran i s available. He sat out against Rangers as he can’t play against his parent club.

The McDiarmid Park youngsters go i nto t he fixture in 10th place with 15 points.
