Man, 24, attacked pregnant partner

-

A DRUNKEN thug attacked his pregnant girlfriend then told her: “That’s it, I am away to ******* kill you.”

Vicious Dale Duncan punched, kicked and grabbed the hair of 19-year-old Carly Robb in a horrific attack in the early hours of August 2.

Miss Robb had tried to contact Duncan, 24, as she was concerned for his wellbeing — finally getting hold of him at 5am.

He then went to her flat in St Mungo’s Terrace in St Mary’s — and began accusing her of sleeping with his friends.

Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told Dundee Sheriff Court Duncan then violently assaulted Miss Robb.

Miss Robertson said: “They had been in an on-off relationship for two years.

“She was pregnant with her first child, albeit neither she nor the accused knew about the pregnancy at the time.

“She told police: ‘He had a really strong grip on my hair and he was throwing me around.’

“She got back on to the bed and the accused walked over to a TV and punched the screen, causing it to shatter. “The complainer told police the accused started jumping at her, kicking her with both feet. The force of them caused her to repeatedly strike against the wall.”

As Miss Robb lay on the bed, Duncan seized her by the throat, the court heard.

Miss Robertson said: “The accused then said: ‘That’s it, I am away to ******* kill you’.

“The complainer screamed and the accused put his hand over her mouth.

“She was able to push him away and he said: ‘I’m away to get back on it’ before leaving.

“The complainer said she remembered the accused swinging a wooden curtain pole around at one point.”

Miss Robb sustained bruising and swelling to her left eye, lumps on the back of her head, bruising on both arms and elbows and a cut and bruising on her leg. Two neighbours who overheard the attack described Ms Robb as sounding “really panicked”.

Duncan was arrested that afternoon and told police: “I’m not about to spend a night in Bell Street (Dundee’s police HQ).”

Duncan, a prisoner at HMP Perth, pleaded guilty to assault to injury and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC deferred sentence until January for reports and remanded Duncan in custody.
