Saints want to cap ‘great’ 2017

-

ST JOHNSTONE manager Tommy Wright wants his team to end what he terms “another great year” by beating Dundee at McDiarmid Park tomorrow.

He added: “Our fans should be proud of what the side has achieved this year and give them plenty backing tomorrow.

“We want to finish the year strongly. It’s been another super 12 months.

“We finished in the top six again last season, qualified for the Europa League once more and have had some great victories.”

The Perth men drew 1-1 away to Ross County on Wednesday night and Tommy felt there were “a lot of positives” to be taken from the fixture.

He went on: “We had as many opportunities as they did and defended very well indeed.

“We gave as good as we got and I didn’t think their penalty was a penalty. The foul was outside the penalty box.

“The boys deserve credit and, once again, we tightened up all over the pitch.

“We could have won it as Denny Johnstone, who scored our goal, had another chance and Michael O’Halloran had a chance. And, late on, Liam Craig’s shot just missed.”

Saints go into the Dundee game minus i njured the Aaron Comrie and suspended Liam Craig.

Paul Paton is struggling with an ankle injury, Murray Davidson may not recover from his knee knock in time and Chris Millar will be assessed nearer kick-off.
