Whisky festival set to be held in city

-

DETAILS have been released about a new whisky festival set for Dundee.

The Whisky Social will begin on March 24.

After two years in Falkirk, the festival will enable Dundee whisky-lovers to sample a range of drams from around the world at the event in Bonar Hall, near the University of Dundee, in Park Place.

Dozens of distilleries will bring more than 50 malts to the event which also offers the chance to meet brand ambassadors and take part in masterclasses.

The festival is the brainchild of Harbro Events, run by husband and wife team Andy and Kirsty Ure, from Falkirk.

The pair will first bring the Craft Beer Discovery Dundee event, featuring more than a dozen craft breweries, to the same venue on February 10.

It will be split into two slots, noon4.30pm and 5.30pm-10pm, and the entry fee includes a branded pint glass, discount vouchers and tokens for free samples.

Speaking to the Tele previously, Andy said: “There is a huge buzz around Dundee just now with the new V&A to open soon.

“The Waterfront is looking great and the city was the natural choice to bring our whisky and beer festivals to.

“We hope they will be well supported as we have even bigger ideas for events in Dundee.”

Like the craft beer festival, there will be a choice of two sessions for the Whisky Social — the first from noon-3.30pm and the other from 4.15pm-7.45pm.

Included with a ticket is a branded Glen Cairn tasting glass, a festival guide, a bottle of water, £10 of money-off vouchers to use at the festival shop and access to all tasting sessions from exhibitors.

Last pours are always 15 minutes before the end of each session.
