McMillan can’t wait to get going

NEW St Johnstone striker David McMillan is looking forward to getting started with the McDiarmid Park club.

David has been signed from League of Ireland side Dundalk.

The 28-year-old said: “I move on to a new chapter with St Johnstone which I am very excited about. I can’t wait to get started.

“A huge thank you to everyone at Dundalk for four incredible years.

“I have experience­d so many incredible times that I will never forget.

“I wish to thank all the players, coaching staff and fans at Dundalk.”

McMillan joined the Lilywhites ahead of the 2014-15 campaign and has had phenomenal success at Dundalk.

During his four seasons at the club he has played a key role in the three league titles the club has claimed, the FAI Cups and t wo EA SPORTS Cups.

McMillan has a good scoring record in European competitio­n, in particular the Uefa Champions League where he netted on seven occasions including twice against BATE Borisov in the third qualifying round in 2016.

He i s also Dundalk’s highest scorer in European competitio­n.

During his time at Dundalk, he made 125 appearance­s and scored 74 goals.

As one striker from the Republic of Ireland comes in, another has left Saints.

Graham Cummins is set to return to Cork City. He made 56 starts and 36 appearance­s from the bench, scoring 15 goals including one recently against Rangers.

Defender Ally Gilchrist has also left. He started five games for the club, including the two against FK Trakai i n the Europa League, and came off the bench 18 times.
