Cummins joy at Cork City return

-

GRAHAM Cummins has spoken of his “delight” to be back at Cork City.

The Irish striker has rejoined his home-town club from St Johnstone.

He said: “I spoke to Cork manager John Caulfield a couple of weeks ago and was eager to go back. And, after speaking to him, I was so excited at the thought of returning.

“Everything he said was positive and I am going back to the best team in the Irish Republic.

“They have just won a double and I want to return and win trophies at City.

“The last game I played for them was the last time I won a trophy.

“I don’t want to go back and just play games — I want to be winning trophies.

“The club has come on leaps and bounds since I left.

“I am going into a club I know but into a new environment at the same time. The main thing for me is to make this move a success.”

John Caulfield said: “We are delighted to sign Graham.

“I spoke to him a number of times and, from my point of view, it was about trying to get him here.

“He was still under contract and I know that St Johnstone wanted to wait until the summer.

“However, we didn’t want to wait and, to be fair to Graham, he had the bit between his teeth that he wanted to get it done.

“There have been negotiations over the last couple of weeks.

“St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright was great to deal with and we managed to agree for Graham to come to us i n time for pre-season so that he will be ready to compete with the other lads for the start of the season.

“He is in the prime of his career and has a chance to do well.”
