Saints trio miss match at Killie

ST JOHNSTONE will be minus three players through suspension when they return to league action away to Kilmarnock on January 24.

Defender Richard Foster and midfielder­s Paul Paton and Murray Davidson are banned.

Foster will also miss the Scottish Cup tie at Albion Rovers on January 20 due to being suspended.

Saints may also be minus forward Michael O’Halloran.

He has gone back to Rangers following his loan spell and is presently with the Ibrox side at a training base in Florida.

Rangers have signed wide man Jamie Murphy from Brighton and are also said to be keen on Killie winger Jordan Jones. If he is added to the Ibrox squad, it may be O’Halloran could go back to Saints on loan.

If that isn’t the case, Scott Wright and former Saint Peter Pawlett could be snapped up on replacemen­ts.

Saints are being linked with both. I t ’s a l s o rumoured t hey have a young English winger in their sights.

Meanwhile, Ally Gilchrist, who has signed for Shamrock Rovers after leaving Saints, has paid tribute to the McDiarmid Park club’s No 2 Callum Davidson.

He said of t he f omer Scotland defender: “I was at St Johnstone for a while and had good coaches around me.

“Callum Davidson taught me a lot and passed on a lot of experience to me.”

The central defender also said he needed “a fresh start”, adding: “It was a great experience to play in Saints’ Europa League games but it was j ust a shame I couldn’t play more.” loan as
