Man attacked in pub by brothers

-

TWO brothers have admitted assaulting a man in a pub.

Walter Lettice, 51, of Mains Road, and Peter Lettice, 54, of North Street, admitted attacking Andrew Mayes at the Athletic Bar in Strathmartine Road on October 20 last year.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard the incident happened after Mr Mayes complained about Walter Lettice’s dog

Mr Mayes was in the pub at the same time as Walter Lettice, who was with the dog.

Fiscal depute Joanne Smith said: “The complainer said that he had better keep his dog away from him.

“The complainer then referred to the dog having bitten his friend.

“At around 10.30pm, the complainer was standing at the bar when Walter Lettice pulled him to the ground.

“Walter Lettice then punched the complainer to the face and the body.”

The court heard that Mr Mayes punched Walter Lettice in an attempt to defend himself.

Walter Lettice was then pulled away and removed from the pub.

Peter Lettice then attended and punched Mr Mayes in the face, causing his nose to bleed and swell.

Peter Lettice then left the premises and both he and his brother were later traced and arrested.

Sentence was deferred until February 2 for social work reports and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
